A Levittown resident was arrested Friday night after allegedly attacking a woman with a screwdriver in Franklin Square, police say.
Authorities say Timothy Gersbeck, 37, stabbed a 44-year-old woman in the neck in front of her home on Claflin Boulevard. He then tried to escape, but the victim?s 21-year-old son and two of his friends caught up with Gersbeck near Raft Park and tackled him.
Gersbeck was taken into police custody and charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon. The woman was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
Police have not disclosed what relationship Gersbeck had with the victim, or what sparked the alleged screwdriver attack.
