Police say the string of shootings that led to the arrest of an East Islip man were targeted, not random.
Police have arrested 24-year-old Kyle Rowlinson in connection with multiple incidents during which shots were fired at properties within the Islip area.
Three homes were struck by gunfire during the overnight hours between May 26 and May 27, according to police.
The homes are on Provost Street in Great River, Cedarhurst Street in North Great River and Keswick Drive in East Islip. In addition, police say a car, which was parked in front of a Manhasset Street home in Islip Terrace, was also damaged by gunfire.
Police charged Rowlinson with two counts of reckless endangerment and assault in the incidents on Keswick Drive and Manhasset Street.
He was arraigned and is being held on $10,000 bail.
Rowlinson lives on Yuma Lane in East Islip, where neighbors did not know much about him. Detectives have not yet disclosed what they believe to be his motive, as they are still investigating the other two shootings.
Detectives are continuing their investigation and anyone with information on these incidents is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
