An East Hampton man is under arrest after police say he robbed more than a dozen homes on the South Fork.
Police say 35-year-old Justin Bennett committed 16 burglaries in East Hampton, Southampton and Sag Harbor over the past 10 months.
Bennett allegedly stole more than $126,000 in cash, jewelry and prescription drugs.
Officials say the arrest came after an investigation that spanned several months and involved detectives from the East End and New York City, where some of the jewelry was recovered.
Investigators say they were able to track down Bennett based on witness descriptions of the suspect, who was seen driving a dark colored sedan. Bennett was arrested on Oct. 24 in a black Toyota, police say. He was allegedly found to have a hypodermic needle and marijuana in his possession as well, according to police.
Anyone who may have more information on the case is urged to call East Hampton police at 631-537-7575.
