It was just a heartbreaking scene here on Stillwell Lane. She arrived grieving her fiance. She said he was killed at this construction site behind me. A project gone horribly wrong. And we've just learned from police that the victim here was crushed to death. And another man injured Clara Reyes says her fiance was killed Thursday morning while he was here on Stillwell Lane doing construction work. She spoke to us in Spanish. He was a man who worked really hard. Chopper 12 was over the scene. It happened around nine Thursday morning. They were on scaffolding working on the building while these two males were on top of the scaffolding working. They heard a crack and what happened was there was 30 trusses which hold the roof up which started to domino effect and collapse. They attempted to run up the door to death. It took hours to get authorities say a second victim had a laceration on his face. This is a Jericho water district site where a new building was going up. Superintendent Peter Logan, we have an advanced oxidation process treatment plant being built here. Now, the building that they're working on at the moment is housing the carbon filters, we call gas. I feel like I'm in shock like this hasn't happened. Reyes says this feels like a bad dream. Meantime, police have not released the identity of the man killed in this accident. Then we'd like warmer weather. Now, Sam is gonna try and deliver that makes me happy because I'm a summer girl. This is like it's not around the corner. Sam. You know, we have a long way to go. Um Our weather's been nice though. What an interesting sky today. Some sun, some flurries and this is beautiful. Uh Jim Lenning our very own, Jim Lenning got this photo when he was out today in Bellport. So along the south shore, we had a beautiful sky, some of those scattered cumulus clouds in the distance that brought in some of those flurries. If you happen to see them today, it was a windy day. It was a cold day. We've got a cold Wednesday morning coming up for you at the bus stop. Temperatures will be in the twenties. It is going to feel more like 15 degrees. So just bundle up have the layers on the afternoon, not so bad, 40 degrees, the breeze will start to die down. So by tomorrow night, there's not much of a wind left. Uh one more cold day coming up, we have these lake effect snow showers to our north and west where it's been snowing all day long. That's why we had some flurries, but as the winds die down in the coming days, um, those snow showers will be winding down as well. Back at home here, mostly clear in the morning. You see the twenties, cold start to the day. It is breezy in the afternoon, but the wind is switching to the west southwest and that will start to bring in the warmer air. So by Thursday morning, we're in the thirties, not so bad, less wind. And in the afternoon, look at this, we get that little bit of a warm up. So that will be my pick of the week. Forties with lots of sun will feel great after this little cold spell that we're seeing, our weather starts to change on Friday. It does turn mild. We're in the fifties. This is Friday late afternoon into the evening. That's our next chance for rain. It'll be fast moving. By Saturday morning, the rain clears out dry, start to the weekend, but our weather is turning a little bit unsettled. So by Sunday night showers return, we have some showers Monday, Tuesday, mild weather and then it will get breezy and colder by the middle of next week with temps.

Police identify man killed in Woodbury roof collapse

And we now know the identity of the man killed during a roof collapse in Woodbury. Police tell us his name is Donald Duque. The 49 year old Roosevelt man, we learned died while doing construction on the roof of a Jericho water district building on Stillwell Lane. That was yesterday morning when it collapsed. Police tell us a 24 year old man was also injured. We're told he's now been released from the hospital.
