Nassau County police have identified the victim of a deadly car crash Sunday in Franklin Square.
Police say 85-year-old Vincenza Grizzaffi, of Elmont, was driving south on Franklin Avenue and trying to make a left turn onto Oaks Drive when her car collided with an Infiniti G37 traveling north. Grizzaffi died a short time later.
The 25-year-old male driver of the Infiniti suffered a broken leg. No charges have been filed against him at this time.
In the wake of the crash, community activists say officials have done all they can to make Franklin Avenue and nearby streets such as Hempstead Turnpike and New Hyde Park Road safer.
"There's a median in the middle of the turnpike, traffic lights - there's more and more signs saying you can't turn right on red," says Dave Herman, of the Franklin Square Chamber of Commerce.
Police say the crash remains under investigation.
