Police say a man was killed in a crash in Westbury early Saturday morning.
Investigators say 33-year-old Michael Deveny, of Massapequa, was heading east on School Street when he lost control of his Nissan Altima.
The car struck a utility pole, then a tree and a stop sign before coming to rest at the corner of School Street and Madison Street.
Deveny was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.
First responders had to extricate three passengers from the vehicle. They were not identified, but police say they were a 35-year-old male who was sitting in the front seat, and a male and female who were sitting in the backseat, both 22 years old.
The passengers were hospitalized with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
It's unclear what caused Deveney to lose control of the vehicle. Police say their investigation is ongoing.
