Police say a Hewlett homeowner was headbutted and punched by a man who stole two pro-Israel flags from his front lawn on Sunday.

Officials say video shows Bechir Lehbeib walking off with the flags on Steven Drive.

The homeowner told police that after the attack, Lehbeib said, “I’m Palestinian and you Jews are killing Palestinians.”

Lehbeib faced a judge Tuesday on hate crime and assault charges. He is being held on $50,000 bail.

An order of protection was issued to the victim.
