A Hampton Bays man is facing charges after police say he tried to drive away from a traffic stop on the East End and crashed into a patrol car.

The incident happened on Wednesday on Town Line Road in Wainscott.

Police say they pulled Hermino Gimenez over for a traffic violation and when officers tried to question him he refused to comply.

Police say Gimenez backed up and hit the front end of a marked Southampton Town police vehicle. Gimenez then refused to be handcuffed.

Gimenez is facing several charges and traffic violations.
