Greenwich police responded to a swatting call that threatened Central Middle School Tuesday morning.
Police say that out of an abundance of caution, the school was placed in a secure-in-place status. Officers who were assigned to school patrol were already at the school when the incident took place and responded.
During that time, unscheduled visitors were not allowed in the building. Physical education and recess were held indoors.
Authorities do not believe the call was credible. They add that there is no known threat to the school community or the public. All students and staff are safe.
District officials say once the status was lifted, the school remained in "secure building" for the rest of the day, meaning unscheduled visitors were prohibited from entering the school.
Police remained at the school for the entire school day and all afterschool activities were held.
Officers also conducted security checks at other schools in town.
