Police: Father and son from Hempstead killed in New Rochelle crash; 2 others in critical condition

The driver, 37-year-old Troy Carter, was pronounced dead at the scene. His son, 7-year-old Carmello Carter, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A New Rochelle crash Sunday claimed the lives of a Hempstead father and son while leaving two other family members critically injured.
The incident happened at around 1:30 a.m. on Pelhamdale Avenue at the intersection with the Hutchinson River Parkway northbound exit ramp.
First responders arrived to find a gray Nissan Altima that collided with a brick retaining wall opposite the exit ramp of the parkway.
The driver, 37-year-old Troy Carter, was pronounced dead at the scene. His son, 7-year-old Carmello Carter, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Carmello’s twin brother, Romello Carter, is in critical condition at the hospital.
Their sister Tiara Carter, 11, was critically injured but is recovering at the hospital.
New Rochelle police are still investigating the incident.
