Nassau police say a woman's death inside her East Meadow home Tuesday has been ruled a homicide.
Neighbors say that the victim's daughter came to the home on Prospect Avenue at around 4 p.m. and discovered her mother, 52-year-old Mirian Bejarano, unconscious on the floor. A 911 call was then made, though it was unclear who made the call.
Bejarano was pronounced dead at the scene after an ambulance crew arrived.
Police will not say who is suspected in the woman's death or how she was killed. Chief of Detectives Kevin Smith says they are hoping to speak with family members, including Bejarano's husband.
"Our investigation has direction and focus," said Smith. "We don't believe this to be a random act of violence."
Anyone with information about the case is urged to call 1-800-244-TIPS.
