A Roosevelt man allegedly drove on the Southern State Parkway with a blood alcohol level of more than four times the legal limit and three children in the car Sunday, police say.
A state trooper spotted a swerving GMC Yukon in Wantagh, according to authorities.
The driver, Tanyaradzwa Munyoro, 30, allegedly almost crashed into the trooper, who pulled him over. Three of Munyoro's sons -- ages 8, 6, and 4 -- were passengers in the SUV.
Police say Munyoro failed multiple field sobriety tests before the trooper recorded his BAC at .35 percent. He was taken to a hospital to sober up.
Police charged Munyoro with four counts of aggravated driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle in the third degree.
The children were released to a relative.
Munyoro pleaded not guilty at his arraignment and bail was set at $20,000.
According to court documents, Munyoro told the trooper he drank some vodka and took codeine.
