Police say a drunken driver in Centerport hit two homes and drove through several backyards Tuesday along Prospect Road.
Witnesses say Edward Meyer, 49, was driving a white GMC pickup truck when he crashed into the two homes at around 8:30 p.m.
The impact ruptured natural gas and water lines, leaving many on the block in the dark.
Police arrested Meyer at his home in Huntington about two hours after the incident.
In court Wednesday, Meyer was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.
The judge suspended his license and held him on $25,000 cash bail.
Meyer is due back in court on May 5.
