A Farmingville man was arrested for drunken driving after he crashed his car into two police vehicles in Shirley early Sunday morning, police say.
Two officers from the 7th Precinct had stopped to help a driver who was stuck in the left lane on William Floyd Parkway around 3:30 a.m. That's when a Chevrolet Malibu driven by 22-year-old Jonathan Kunstadt smashed into both officers' vehicles.
One of the officers was hospitalized with minor injuries. The other officer and the driver whose car was disabled were both uninjured.
Police say Kunstadt had five passengers in his car when the crash happened. One of them, 22-year-old Gunnar Cortes of Mastic, was hospitalized with serious injuries. Three other passengers were hospitalized with minor injuries.
Kunstadt is being charged with driving while intoxicated.
