Police say a man was driving while under the influence when he led officers on a chase that ended in a crash.

Officers say they tried to pull over 22-year-old Tyquon Gregory on Saturday for talking on his phone behind the wheel. They say he sped off down Sunrise Highway, leading police from Brentwood to Oakdale.

Police say Gregory slammed into an 18-wheeler, then ditched his car and took off on foot. He was eventually arrested, and was hospitalized. No other injuries were reported in the crash.

Gregory is facing multiple charges, including driving while intoxicated by drugs and driving without a license.
