A car crashed into an AT&T store in Great Neck today, killing a woman who became trapped underneath the vehicle.
The incident occurred at around 11 a.m. on Northern Boulevard.
The 65-year-old driver told police that she tried to pull into a parking spot near the store, but could not stop her car.
The car went through the store's window and trapped the 66-year-old customer underneath the car. Witnesses say that the woman was sitting on a store bench with her back to the window at the time of the crash.
Bystanders and customers in the store lifted the car off of the victim. The victim was then transported to a hospital, but died as a result of her injuries.
Officials say another customer and an employee suffered minor injuries during the incident.
They say the driver was in the 2006 Toyota RAV-4 with her 25-year-old daughter at the time of the crash. Both family members were not injured. The driver was tested for DWI with negative results. Officials say she has a valid driver's license.
The car will be impounded for a safety check.
