A man was found stabbed to death on a trail in Port Jefferson Station, police say.
Police say an adult male was found dead at the Greenway Trail near Clifton Avenue just before 1 a.m. Thursday.
The Greenway Trail goes from Port Jefferson Station to Setauket.
Police say when a patrol responded, they discovered a male bleeding from his chest. They attempted CPR and so did the Terryville rescue team. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man has not been identified yet, and police are not sure why he was in the park after dark.
Suffolk police officers on bike were patrolling the trail Thursday. As News 12 has reported, a woman was attacked on the trail back in October. No arrests in that incident were ever made
Detectives say anyone with information should call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
