Two Riverhead Middle School students were arrested Friday after the superintendent of the Riverhead Central School District posted a message on the district's website about a discovery of weapons made at the school.
Superintendent Dr. Augustine E. Tornatore stated in the message that a BB gun and two knives were found during a search of the Riverhead Middle School lockers.
Tornatore says the search came after the administration learned of a "potential altercation with weapons" that was planned for after school.
Two teens, ages 13 and 14, have been charged with unlawful possession of weapons by a person under 16.
They are due back in court at a later date
