A Bay Shore man has been charged and released following a police pursuit in Suffolk Monday afternoon.
The police pursuit weaved through several blocks in Wheatley Heights.  At one point, the suspect’s car hit a telephone pole on the corner of Washington Avenue and North 27th Street. Police say the suspect’s car then backed in to a marked squad car.
Police say it all started on Lee Avenue, when 21-year-old Daevon Cannon was trying to make a turn without signaling.
According to police, he then took off and led officers on a chase, striking a mailbox on Washington Avenue before hitting the pole.
Police say after striking the squad car, Cannon abandoned his vehicle and was caught a few blocks away on Colonial Springs Road where police say they had to use a Taser on him.
Cannon was arraigned in court Tuesday and charged with several counts of unlawful fleeing and reckless driving. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
His attorney says Cannon has never been arrested before.
Police say there was a passenger in the car, but that person has not been caught.
After Cannon was arraigned, he was released without having to post bail.
