Police say surveillance tape taken of teens thrashing a 7-Eleven in Uniondale has led to four arrests.
Investigators say the video, taken nearly three weeks ago, allowed them to identify and arrest Anthony Robinson, Tyrell Toney and Michael Caines with the help of Uniondale school officials. The other student?s name was not released because he is a juvenile.
High School students flooded the streets of Uniondale on June 10 after extreme heat forced an early dismissal. Police say a large group of students soon descended on the Jerusalem Avenue 7-Eleven.
Police say the video demonstrates that once there, the group began to destroy and steal merchandise in front of customers and employees. The entire incident took place in 38 seconds, police say.
?As a result of that video we were able to effect four arrests. Three are being charged as adults -- they were older than 16 years old -- and we have one juvenile arrest,? says Detective Sgt. Anthony Repalone of the Nassau County Police Department.
Repalone says the students are being charged with riot in the second degree and petit larceny for stealing the merchandise.
The incident has left some in the area angry.
?A lot of the kids around here have no respect for anyone," says Sean O?Connor of Lake Grove.
