Police are investigating the circumstances that led to an unresponsive child being pulled from a pool at a Great River home.

Officers responded to 5 Pinetree Lane around 1:30 p.m. Thursday after a 911 call reported that a 7-year-old boy was found unresponsive in the pool.

The boy, who police say is a relative of the occupants of the home, was transported to Southside Hospital in serious condition.

It is unclear if there was any sort of gate surrounding the pool -- something experts say save lives.
