A 68-year-old woman in a wheelchair was fatally struck by a car in Brooklyn early Sunday afternoon.
Police said they received a call after 1 p.m. about the incident on McDonald and Webster avenues.
News 12 was told that the person who was driving a Lexus that struck the woman was a man in his 70s and remained at the scene.
"We heard a crash at the side, like the woman fell to the side," said witness Maureen Sardinha. She said everything happened so fast and that she saw the woman underneath the car.
"Her hand and her back was under the back wheel. We're still in a state of shock," she added.
First responders who arrived at the scene took the woman to Maimonides Hospital, but she later died.
