Police are investigating six break-ins at SUNY Stony Brook dorm rooms early Thursday morning.
University Police Chief Robert Lenahan says the break-ins occurred sometime between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. at the dormitories known as Schick, Eisenhower and Dewey Colleges. When cops arrived, the suspect was gone.
Lenahan says all the victims were female and had unlocked rooms. He says the unknown man stole a wallet and other items from two different locations.
The suspect is described as an Asian male between 18 and 25 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches to 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a green hoodie and sneakers. Police have not said if they believe the burglar was a student.
Police have stepped up patrols near the dorms and are encouraging students to lock their rooms.
No arrests have been made.
