Police say an SUV veered off the road and slammed into a day care center in Hempstead.
The incident happened when a Nissan Rogue plowed through an iron fence on Tuesday afternoon and hit the wall of a Hofstra University day care facility.
Police say 30 children were playing inside at the time of the incident and some glass did fly into the classroom.
Fire officials say giant concrete planters outside the facility protected the kids inside.
A total of four kids and the driver suffered only minor injuries.
It is not clear why the driver lost control.
