Police say four people were struck by a car and two people were arrested following a brawl outside of a Bay Shore bar early Sunday morning.
Officers say they were called to the parking lot at Coopersmiths Pub on East Main Street around 3 a.m. when a fight broke out.
They say a 35-year-old man had been slashed in the face and ear with a box cutter. The man was hospitalized. His identity was not released.
According to investigators, during the fight a man identified as 27-year-old Ronald Ashley, of Brentwood, attempted to leave the scene in a vehicle. His car struck four people, including the man who allegedly committed the slashing.
Ashley was arrested and is charged with driving while intoxicated and four counts of third-degree assault.
Police say 28-year-old Paul Wells, of West Babylon, was charged with second-degree assault for the slashing. He was hospitalized for injuries sustained in the crash.
The three other people who were hit by Ashley's Toyota Corolla suffered injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to police.
The owner of Coopersmith's said in a statement that there was "no bar brawl or slashing or injuries that occured inside of Coopersmith's."
