Authorities seized counterfeit handbags, scarves, watches and jewelry worth more than $1.5 million in Nassau County Monday.

According to police, Fern Ciraolo, 53, was selling counterfeit items at her Hewlett Harbor home. Police say subsequent to Ciraolo's arrest, her son Justin, 21, was arrested on drug charges.

Polices say Jack Huzarsky, 74, of Syosset, is also accused of selling fake designer goods out of his car.

Alyssa Reichel, 49, of North Woodmere, has also been charged with selling fake designer items at the Cheveux Day Spa and Salon in Woodmere. In addition, Elsa Bonilla, of Westbury, is also accused of selling counterfeit items at ELSY Salon in Westbury.

All four suspects received appearance tickets. If found guilty, they could face up to four years behind bars.

Police say buying counterfeit goods is not a victimless crime.

"When you buy this merchandise...all too often the workers are children and they work in deplorable conditions," says acting Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter.

Police also say some of the counterfeit manufacturers could have ties to terrorism.
