Police are searching for the suspect who made off with thousands during a smash and grab at Roosevelt Field Mall.

Police say the incident happened around 11:37 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to detectives, man walked into the Macy’s store and entered the jewelry department.

He then struck the glass countertop with a pipe and reached into the display case, removing three diamond necklaces worth approximately $30,000 before fleeing the store.

The robbery is the latest in a long string of crimes at the Roosevelt Field Mall, including a similar smash-and-grab robbery at the same Macy’s in August.

A spokesperson for the mall’s operator, Simon Property Group, says it has a commitment to security.

Safety measures include 24/7 trained security personnel, a K-9 handler and a police substation.

Detectives request anyone with information on the latest incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
