Police say three men have been arrested after drugs were found in an Amityville deli on Saturday night.
Police say in response to community complaints, officers were conducting a State Liquor Authority investigation in conjunction with the Town of Babylon and the Amityville Village Building Inspector and Fire Marshal at Shalom Delight Deli, located at 528 Broadway.
That is when police say two patrons were found to be inside the store in possession of cocaine in clear view at approximately 10 p.m.
According to police, Juan Hernandez and Manuel Martinez-Quintanilla were both found to have drugs while inside the store. Hernandez, 34, undomiciled, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Martinez-Quintanilla, 31, of West Babylon, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Both were held and arraigned in court on Sunday.
During the investigation, unclaimed drugs were also found on the floor of the deli.
The owner of the deli, Sharon Solemani-Sharifian, was charged with criminal nuisance for allowing people to gather in the store with the intention of using drugs.
Solemani-Sharifian, 53, of East Northport, was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 17.
The Village of Amityville issued two summonses to an employee of the business for village code violations.
The business has been referred to the State Liquor Authority for further investigation.
