There is concern in a Suffolk neighborhood after two people were hurt trying to break up a dog fight.
Neighbors who live on Champlain Street in Port Jefferson Station say they are living in fear and something has to be done about their neighbor’s dogs after a woman on the block was attacked.
Police say on Saturday night two dogs ran out of a home and attacked another dog. Both owners tried to separate the dogs and were injured in the process.
Angela Denton is friends with Tracey Thomas and tells News 12 that Thomas was on her lawn with her dog on a leash when the two dogs came out of nowhere. Thomas is in the hospital today after the dogs bit her face, her arm, hands and tore off her ear.
Cheryl Hoctor, the other owner, tells News 12 she was carrying in groceries, when her two dogs ran out of the house. She says it was nobody's fault.
Hoctor says, “The dogs got into a melee. She ran into the middle of the fight. I ran into the middle of the fight.”
