Police say they have arrested a Hauppauge woman in connection to a Ronkonkoma hit-and-run in which two kids on bicycles were hurt Monday night.
Police say the boys were riding bicycles around 7:30 p.m. on the shoulder of the Long Island Expressway Service Road, near Old Nichols Road, when they were hit by a vehicle that fled the scene.
Police say a 9-year-old boy from North Amityville was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is in serious condition.
A 12-year-old boy was also rushed to the same hospital and treated for serious injuries, but a 6-year-old boy was not injured, police added.
Detectives say 31-year-old Shannon Palmer was arrested at her Hauppauge home early Tuesday morning and was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an incident with serious physical injury.
Palmer was given a supervised release with alcohol and narcotics conditions. She is due back in court on Sept. 14.
