Police: 13-year-old Copiague student fatally struck by car while riding bike
Police say Jose Luis Calderon, of Amityville, was riding his bike on Dixon Avenue around 9:30 p.m.

has learned a 13-year-old student in the Copiague School District that was hit
by a car on Saturday has died.
Police say
Jose Luis Calderon, of Amityville, was riding his bike on Dixon Avenue around
9:30 p.m.
That is
when police say he swerved into the opposite lane of the road and was hit by a
car.
The
22-year-old driver wasn’t hurt and is not facing any
charges at this time.
The district tells News 12 they are offering counseling to
all students and staff today.
