One person was killed in a fire at a West Islip home Friday, Suffolk police say.

The fire on Udall Road was reported by a 911 caller at around 10:30 a.m.

A female resident of the home died in the fire, according to police.

A firefighter also suffered minor injuries.

The Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating the fire. The cause is unclear at this time.
