The search is on for a gunman after police say a man was shot in Mastic Beach.

Police say Alejandro Gawey, 22, was in a parking lot on Neighborhood Road around 6:15 p.m. Monday when another man shot him in the leg and fled in a vehicle.

Gawey was rushed to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.

Police believe it was a targeted shooting.
