Officials announced on Thursday that a new public housing complex will replace Freeport's Moxey Rigby apartments.
The apartments were flooded with over 20 feet of water three and a half years ago during Hurricane Sandy, forcing tenants to live elsewhere for weeks. Freeport officials say the structure never fully recovered from the storm.
The new complex will be built across the street from the current building on Merrick Road and Buffalo Avenue.
