New federal rules are coming to the lobster fishery soon to help protect the whales.
The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission may soon use electronic trackers on lobster fishing boats.
The interstate regulatory authority says the trackers would go on boats with federal permits and those that harvest Jonah crabs.
They say the move could help protect North Atlantic right whales, which are vulnerable to entanglement and listed as endangered species.
