There was a Battle of the Badges Saturday in Dix Hills between the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office and the Suffolk County Police Department.
The game benefited Michelle Mahler, who has worked for the county for almost 20 years. The three-time kidney transplant survivor was recently diagnosed with cancer.
"I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me, I want everyone to feel sorry for the cancer, because I'm going to kick butt,” she told News 12. “I have everyone behind me and I feel really strong and it's nice to know that I have a lot of support."
All of the money raised at the game was donated to the Mahler family.
