A Long Island pilot's small plane is parked in his driveway, and it's drawing the ire of his neighbors and his town.
Harold Guretzky had his Cessna trucked in from Republic Airport and reassembled in his Oceanside driveway about a month ago.
Guretzky no longer wanted to pay $150 a month in storage fees. He says the plane is not airworthy and that he can't fly because his license isn't up to date.
Guretzky's neighbors are calling the plane an eyesore. The Town of Hempstead ticketed Guretzky on July 22 and warned they could fine him. The town says Guretzky does not have the proper zoning to keep the plane there.
Town officials say he faces up to a $2,500 fine if the plane is not removed. He says he'll fight the charges in court.
"If people can have their boats on their grass, why should be people be upset about an airplane being in the driveway?" he asks.
