A new trend is aiming to bring smiles and capture togetherness between families during coronavirus isolation -- and hundreds have already jumped at the idea.
With a camera in hand, professional photographer Stephanie Coiro is walking through her Kings Park neighborhood and snapping pictures of families at their doorsteps.
It's all part of the Front Steps Project, which began when Coiro put a message on her community's Facebook page asking for anyone who might want to be part of it. She says she got 400 messages overnight.
Coiro says the project is all about celebrating the strength, courage and love families are sharing during a difficult time.
"I'm super excited about it because that's what I miss," says Coiro. "I miss seeing people be families. I get to capture all these fun moments."
Megan Nesteroff was among those who were excited to get her family outside posing for a picture.
"A lot of our neighbors just jumped right on board for this," says Nesteroff. "I think it is really bringing us together."
Another benefit for the project is it's a chance for Coiro and others to meet new neighbors.
"It just fills me up with so much joy," she says.
