A homeless man has died after being hit while crossing the street in Port Jefferson Station.
Police say the incident happened as the unidentified man crossed Route 25A at Maple Avenue.
News 12 has learned the man was homeless and pushing a shopping cart across the road when the car hit the cart and knocked him over.
The man died at the hospital a short time later.
No charges have been filed against the driver.
