A school bus fatally struck a pedestrian in Ulster County.

The Kingston School District released a statement saying the collision happened at the intersection of Wurts and Spring streets in Kingston around 5 p.m. Friday.

The district says that the bus, which is contracted through Ethan Allen Bus Company, had no students on board and was returning to the bus yard after finishing routes.

Kingston police were informed that the bus driver and bus monitor were not injured in the crash.

The district extended sympathies to family and friends who lost a loved one.
