Officials have announced a major change in payment policies for repairs to Sandy-damaged homes.
New York Rising is now altering its compensation schedule. The move will allow an interim payment of 25 percent before the completion of a repair project.
According to officials, up to 1,800 people, 95 percent of them on Long Island, are eligible for interim payments under the new system.
