In this week's Paws & Pals, the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter presented three dogs looking for their 'furever' homes.
Shadow is a 7-year-old male Jindo mix with an adventurous spirit! He loves to spend time outside, go for long walks on the trail, and playing with tennis balls. He is a seasoned pro at our agility course, he especially loves the tunnel! Shadow can be aloof at times, which is typical of the Jindo breed, but he absolutely enjoys the company of his human companions. He can’t resist a good scratching session. Shadow gets along well with dogs of his own size, but would do best in a home without small sized dogs, cats, or other small pets.
Salem is a 6-year-old male Cane Corso mix. He was named Salem because he came to the shelter as a stray in October, but he is anything but spooky! Salem is a fun, loving, smart boy that has learned all of his basic commands. He loves tennis balls. Salem is a sweet and goofy boy who enjoys leaning in for petting, but he can take a few minutes to warm up to strangers. He gets along well with other dogs and enjoys his canine play dates at the shelter. Due to Salem’s size and confidence, he is seeking a mastiff-experienced home without young children.
Zeus is the longest resident at the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter, and it is hard to believe that he has not found his perfect home yet. He's a 10-year-old male Pit Bull Terrier mix. This handsome, loving boy has a signature one ear up, one ear down look that you can’t help but admire! Zeus is a goofball that lives for belly rubs, rides in the car, and walks on our nature trail. He knows all of his commands and he aims to please, especially if there are treats in your pocket. Zeus is very friendly and outgoing when meeting new people. He doesn’t quite understand “personal space.” Despite his age, he is still a very strong and exuberant dog, and would do best in a dog-savvy home without small children. Zeus is seeking a new best friend who understands that he needs to be the only pet in the house.
