Some of Suffolk's nonprofits are seeing much-needed funding restored in order to help them survive.
County officials say the Patchogue Theatre is just one of the places that will start seeing funds again, with the money coming from the American Rescue Plan.
The federal government has made available about $286 million to services in Suffolk County over two years.
For workers at the Patchogue Theatre, it's welcome news.
"To be there -- for it to be dark, for it to be quiet -- it's sad. That theatre is such a huge part of the community and the village, and we want it to be vibrant," says Patchogue Theatre Executive Director Michele Rizzo-Benz.
Theater officials say they will not rush to open, making sure they do it safely instead
