A Patchogue man has died from injuries suffered from a high-speed crash into a vacant store front in Patchogue on Monday.

Scott Letizia, 42, was driving southbound on North Ocean Avenue in Patchogue at a high rate of speed at 5:37 a.m. Monday when his vehicle drove through the intersection at Main Street and plowed into the building, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. He was transported to NYU Langone Hospital, where he died, police say.

Video surveillance of the scene showed Letizia's Honda Accord narrowly miss colliding with a bus and a stopped vehicle before striking the building, causing extensive damage to it.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The storefront, which had housed the Richard York shoe store for 96 years, has been empty for a little more than a year.
