The Greater Patchogue Chamber Of Commerce commemorated its 100th anniversary with a reimagining of the organization's first board meeting Tuesday evening.
Current members played founding figures of the organization during the reenactment at James Joyce Pub and Restaurant. Organizers assembled quotes, information and statements about what happened when the chamber was organized.
Executive Director David Kennedy says through their research, organizers discovered their founders worried about similar issues discussed on Tuesday.
"They were talking about hotels. They were talking about parking issues. They were talking about needing more stores on the vibrant Main Street,” he said. “It's amazing that after 100 years, we're still talking about the same things today."
Through Tuesday night’s reenactment, some current members discovered they're descendants of founding members of the chamber.
