There was tidal flooding along the Manasquan inlet Monday evening due to strong winds and the moon.
Those who drive inland can see many of the roads are beginning to seep in with overflowing water from the outskirts of Manasquan. South Jackson, Perrine Avenue, Main Avenue and South Potter were experiencing flooding. Keeping that in mind, anyone parked there should move their vehicles and should not attempt to drive through problem areas. The tidal flooding will be expected to last into Tuesday.
Manasquan Mayor Mike Manga says that the rain doesn't raise the same amount of water as the high tide or the moon.
Manasquan's drainage issues come with the rain, but the flooding brings another level of concern because there is nowhere for the water to go.
“Weather is unpredictable we don't know exactly how it's going to be tonight or in the morning, but we're expecting minor to moderate coastal flooding tomorrow morning,” the mayor said.
All of the low-lying areas east of the bridges are the most prone to flooding.
