Three young children were left unsupervised outside of Franklin Elementary School while waiting to be picked up for day care, according to angry parents.
Yolanda Jemison says her 5-year-old and two other children were left out on the street to wait for a bus to day care. Jemison's daughter Jabria says she was afraid to be left alone. One child wet their pants while waiting.
"I said something to the principal, and she told me, 'Listen, listen, listen - um, didn't you get the memo in the beginning of the school year? I'm not responsible for your kid after 3:15,'" says Jemison.
Marcia Tobin, of "Hands On Now" Day Care, arrived slightly later than usual to find the children on the street and says she was shocked to see them there, as it was her procedure to go inside the school and escort the children to the bus. Tobin is hoping the school puts safer procedures into place.
Multiple calls to the Franklin Elementary School principal and to the Hempstead School District superintendent for comment on this story have not been returned.
