Parents of elementary school students in Levittown say school officials pulled a fast one on them.
The parents claim officials used deceptive wording on a proposition to make them vote in favor of making more students walk to school. The proposition increased the distance required for student busing from a half-mile to three-quarters of a mile.
Parents presented a petition with about 900 signatures to the school board Monday night asking for a revote. The board declined.
The parents say they would have never voted in favor of the proposition since it would put their children at risk. Others say those who voted in favor of the measure should have made sure that they knew what they were voting on.
Parents say they?re also worried about more students having to cross the high-traffic road in front of Abbey Lane Elementary School.
