Parents and students of Bellmore-Merrick School District came out Wednesday night to try and convince administrators to re-hire a popular health teacher.
Middle school teacher Stefan Serie says the Bellmore-Merrick School District told him he must resign or be fired after he was briefly seen taking his shirt off at a pool party in a scene from Bravo's "Princesses: Long Island."
The former Merrick Avenue Middle School health teacher chose to step down but parents say they're on a mission to get Mr. Serie his job back, saying he's a great role model for their children.
Serie's attorney Joseph Kilada says the school's policy states that a teacher's personal life is not grounds for discipline as long as it doesn't affect his or her ability to teach.
The district today released a statement saying it can't legally disclose the details of his resignation.
Serie says the episode was shot last summer during his time off and that he never got paid to be an extra. He says he shot the scene as a favor to a friend who worked for the network.
If the school doesn't give Serie his job back, his attorney says they will file a federal lawsuit against the district.
