Friday night's rain left residents stranded and at least one block underwater in Glen Head, a Nassau community familiar with flooding.

Residents on Linden Place were relegated to their homes Saturday, with some saying they missed a funeral, work and their grandson's fourth birthday party – all due to the floodwaters on their block. 

The flooded roadways are nothing new. In fact, Newsday ran an article about the roadway 44 years ago with the headline "There's a road under the pond." 

News 12 is told that Linden Place is an Oyster Bay Town road. Its cross street is Glen Cove Avenue, which is a Nassau County road. The residents say the rainwater runs off of the county road and on to their town road.

"The county says…they're not responsible. As a matter of fact, that's what they said when we called before," resident Rob Kralick. "The town says, 'It's county water.' And they've been arguing like children over the past 30 years." 

Town officials say a new drainage system was installed in the neighborhood about five years ago, but it does not appear to be working. 

An Oyster Bay spokesperson says the town has asked Nassau to address the grading of Glen Cove Avenue. The town is also conducting a study to see if an additional drainage system is required.

A spokesperson for Nassau Executive Ed Mangano simply said of Linden Place, "That's not a county roadway."
